A cycling route through a piece of undiscovered Friesland and well worth it! You will cycle along lakes and canals and through the landscape created by peat harvesting between the River Tsjonger and the Tsjûkemar.

This cycling route takes you through the region of Gaasterland and discover the different landscapes.

From the Visitor Centre (Oudemirdum) you can cycle along the Gaasterland cliffs, formed during the last ice age but one. The route takes you through the Zuidwest Fryslân National Landscape conservation area. Come and explore this unique part of Friesland!

Our view of the landscape depends on what we see and what we know. Just imagine that you’re looking at the landscape from a completely different perspective, that of the sea, ryegrass or the godwit.

The Kameleon route goes past meadows and along the Sneekermeer. Along the way you’ll see a few mills and a bike ferry across the Nije Skou.
